UPS Systems for Offices & Commercial Spaces

From a single desktop to a full office floor — we supply the right UPS for every office need. Online and offline UPS from 600 VA to 20 kVA, with AMC and pan-India delivery.

Power Problems That Kill Office Productivity

Indian offices lose an average of 2–4 hours of productive work per month to power-related disruptions — and that's not counting the hidden losses from corrupted files, damaged equipment, and frustrated employees.

The good news: most office power problems are completely preventable with the right UPS system at a cost that pays back in weeks, not years.

Frequent Power Cuts

Unsaved work lost, mid-transaction errors, computers forced off causing file system corruption

Voltage Fluctuations

Shortened computer lifespan, monitor flickering, printer errors, hard drive damage over time

Network Outages

Router/switch restart drops VPN, cloud backups, VoIP calls, and POS transactions mid-use

Security System Failures

CCTV cameras go offline during power cuts — exactly when security monitoring matters most

Which UPS Size Does Your Office Need?

Office UPS requirements vary by size and the type of equipment being protected. Use this guide as a starting point.

Small Office
600 VA – 2 kVA
1–10 workstations

Ideal for small offices with a handful of computers, a router, and basic networking. Offline or line-interactive UPS is typically sufficient.

  • 1–5 desktops + monitors
  • Router & network switch
  • Printer and scanner
  • 15–30 min backup time
Recommended: APC BX or Luminous offline UPS, Eaton 5E line-interactive
Most Popular
Medium Office
2 kVA – 6 kVA
10–30 workstations

The most common office UPS range. Centralised UPS protecting a server room or comms room, plus individual UPS for workstation clusters.

  • Office file/application server
  • Core networking stack (router, firewall, switches)
  • CCTV DVR and access control
  • 20–45 min backup on critical equipment
Recommended: APC SMT series online, Eaton 9E online UPS, Vertiv Liebert GXT
Large Office
6 kVA – 20 kVA
30–100+ workstations

Larger offices with server rooms, EPABX systems, data connections, and multiple floors. Centralised online UPS feeding a distribution panel.

  • Multi-server IT room
  • Full networking and telecoms infrastructure
  • Building security systems
  • 30–60 min backup, generator integration
Recommended: Eaton 9355 / 9PX, Vertiv Liebert EXM, APC Galaxy series

Online vs Offline: What's Right for Your Office?

Option 1

Offline / Standby UPS

The most affordable option. Passes mains power directly to load normally; switches to battery in 4–20 ms when power fails. Suitable for desktop computers, printers, and non-critical equipment where brief transfer time is acceptable.

Best for: desktop computers, home offices, general equipment
Option 2

Line-Interactive UPS

The sweet spot for most offices. Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) corrects voltage fluctuations without switching to battery, preserving battery life. Switches to battery in 4–8 ms. Excellent value for money.

Best for: computers, workstations, small network gear, most office equipment
Option 3

Online Double Conversion UPS

The premium option. Zero transfer time (0 ms), pure sine wave, full isolation from mains power quality. Recommended for office servers, NAS, core networking equipment, and any system where a brief transfer is unacceptable.

Best for: servers, NAS, core switches/firewalls, EPABX, CCTV DVRs

Recommended Office UPS Architecture

Most offices benefit from a two-tier approach — a centralised online UPS for critical infrastructure, and individual line-interactive UPS for workstation clusters.

Tier 1: Critical Infrastructure (Online UPS)
  • → File server / application server
  • → Internet router and core firewall
  • → Managed switches and Wi-Fi controllers
  • → CCTV DVR / NVR and access control panel
  • → EPABX and VoIP gateway
Tier 2: Workstations (Line-Interactive UPS)
  • → Desk-level UPS per 2–4 computers
  • → Provides 15–20 min to save and shut down
  • → Voltage regulation protects monitors and peripherals

Office UPS AMC — Don't Wait for Failure

Office UPS Questions Answered

For desktop computers and basic office equipment, a line-interactive UPS (600 VA to 2 kVA) is sufficient and cost-effective — it provides automatic voltage regulation and 4–8 ms transfer time. For office servers, NAS devices, networking equipment, and security systems, an online UPS (1–20 kVA) is recommended for zero transfer time and better power conditioning.

Battery runtime depends on the load and battery capacity. A typical 1 kVA UPS with internal batteries provides 10–20 minutes at 50% load. For longer runtime, external battery packs can be added. We recommend enough runtime to allow for a graceful shutdown or until the generator starts — usually 15–30 minutes for most offices. Ask us to calculate your specific runtime during consultation.

A 1 kVA UPS can typically support 3–5 standard desktop computers (at 150–200W each) or 1–2 workstations with monitors and peripherals. Always calculate total wattage and add a 25% buffer. For precise sizing, use our free UPS sizing consultation — just tell us your equipment list and we'll calculate the right capacity.

Yes — and a small investment here pays off significantly. Office networking equipment (routers, switches, access points) typically consumes only 20–100W total but is critical for all productivity. A small 600 VA line-interactive UPS can keep your networking running for 1–2 hours during a power cut, while computers use their individual UPS for a controlled shutdown. This keeps internet, internal network, and VoIP active throughout.

Offline (standby) UPS is the most cost-effective option for general office use — it switches to battery in 4–20 ms when power fails, which is acceptable for most computers. Online UPS provides zero transfer time (0 ms) and better power conditioning, and is recommended for office servers, NAS devices, networking core equipment, and any system where a brief power interruption could cause data corruption or service disruption.
